Portakabin Fit Out Project For Medlmmune
MedImmune (formerly Cambridge Antibody Technology), leased a 4480 sq ft Portakabin structure to provide space for staff in various office functions.
Due to the temporary nature of the Portakabin, the budget for the furniture fit out was of prime consideration.  However it did need to be of a high standard as the space was to be occupied for over a year while an additional building was being refurbished.  Medlmmune chose Harts for the space planning and supply of the furniture.
Working closely with the clients a Harts consultant devised various space options and the final plan yielded space for 66 desks, as well as provision for small break out spaces, a larger meeting area as well as a small copy/stationery area.  Harts provided render diagrams to illustrate to staff the working environment.  Delivery and installation were managed by our dedicated Harts consultant.
MedImmune were extremely satisfied with the service and attention to detail that was received from Harts throughout this project which was delivered on time and to budget.

Refurbishment of main building for EMBL-EBI
"Welcome Trust Genome Campus"

In November 2008 EMBL-EBI on the Welcome Trust Genome Campus started on the major project of refurbishing their main building. The refurbishment was to be completed in 4 phases.
Phase 1 was to move all the staff from one half of the building into the Portakabins situated on site. Furniture that was being leased through Harts had already been delivered and installed into the Portakabins at an earlier date.
Harts then produced 2D CAD plans for all the rooms (approximately 45) showing the existing furniture layouts to ensure that all furniture was reinstated into the correct positions. Every item of furniture was labelled with the room number for storage.
Rooms that were to be fitted with new furniture had a selection of 2D CAD plans produced. The chosen layout was then ordered in and stored at the Harts warehouse ready for Phase 2.
Harts then removed all existing furniture from the selected half of the building. This was completed by articulated lorries arriving on site one by one to remove and store the furniture in our secure off-site warehouse.
Condition surveys were carried out on all items of furniture.  Phase 2 of the refurbishment took place during March 2009. This involved reinstating all of the existing furniture to the CAD plans produced in Phase 1.
All new furniture was installed once the existing furniture was in place.  Once all the rooms had been completed our dedicated furniture team cleaned, levelled and checked every single piece of furniture.
Phase 3 then commenced in April 2009. This involved exactly the same process as Phase 1 but for the other half of the building.
Phase 4 was completed by the beginning of August 2009.
